Got more questions? We got answers!
Q. What is flexible childcare?
A. Flexible childcare was designed with your needs in mind. Sweet Kiddles flexible childcare center provides high-quality childcare whenever you need it, including evenings and Saturdays.
Q. Who is flexible childcare for?
A. We are here for parents with changing or unpredictable schedules. Maybe you work part time, or maybe you just need some time to run some errands and get some things done. Maybe you have an emergency, like a snow day or your babysitter calls in sick. Or maybe you just want a night out with your spouse. No matter what, Sweet Kiddles flexible childcare center will meet your need.
Q. Wow, that sounds pretty awesome! When are you open?
A. Thanks, it is awesome! We are open every day except major holidays. Our hours are Monday-Thursday 6:30am-9pm, Friday 6:30am-11pm, Saturday 9am-11pm.
Q. What ages do you serve?
A. We serve children ages 6 weeks to 12 years.
Q. Where are you located?
A. The Avon Lake location is at 32900 Pin Oak Parkway, Avon Lake, Ohio off of Route 83.
Q. What are the minimum and maximum amounts of time?
A. We have a two-hour minimum. There is no maximum as long as you pick up by closing time.
Q. It sounds pretty convenient. Does that mean it is just glorified babysitting?
A. No! You do not have to sacrifice quality for convenience. Our center is staffed with the best teachers in the industry. We also have a running curriculum focused on teaching your child to love learning every day.
Q. What is your evening program like?
A. Evenings have a variety of options to suit the needs of your child, ranging from sleeping to educational activities.
Q. How big are your classes and teacher-to-child ratios?
A. Class sizes and ratios are going to rise and fall as children come and go. However, we will never go above these ratios and will start calling in staff before we hit them: Infants – capacity 10, ratio 1 to 5. Toddlers – capacity 14, ratio 1 to 7. Preschoolers – capacity 20, ratio 1 to 12. School age – capacity 24, ratio 1 to 18.
Q. What’s the difference between traditional, half-day or full-day preschool/pre-k and preschool drop-in?
A. Well, first let’s talk about the similarities- both are going to be awesome, top-quality educational experiences for your child, led by the best teachers in the industry. The difference is how consistent you want your schedule to be. Traditional preschool is at the same set times and days each week, and you make at least a one-month commitment at a time. You choose the days of the week and mornings and/or afternoons, and then those times are set for that month and for as long as you choose to extend. For example, say you want your child to attend on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings in September. You’ll sign up for those three days in the mornings. The next month (in this example, October) you can change your plans if you wish and if space in the class permits (there is a maximum of 20 children per preschool session). Traditional Preschool is best for parents who want their children on a set schedule, with consistent classmates and teachers who can provide a staged curriculum and monitor progress over time.
Flexible childcare for preschoolers is available whenever you want (including evenings and weekends) for as long or as short as you want. No advanced commitment is required, although you may want to make a reservation to ensure a space and pay into your Sweet Kiddles account to get a lower rate. You still get great teachers, a planned curriculum and a top-notch experience for your child.
And don’t worry, you can do both! Drop-in is available before and after traditional preschool/pre-k/K and we can move your child seamlessly from one program to the other. It’s perfect for those times you are running late or need a little extra time to get things done.
Q. Do the school buses pick-up and drop-off at Sweet Kiddles?
A. Yes, the Avon Lake school buses offer pick-up and drop-off at our center from all schools.
Q. What about outdoor play?
A. We have an awesome outdoor playground where we play every day that the weather permits. When the weather doesn’t permit, we have gross-motor play indoors – things like gymnastics, dancing, jumping or playing with hula hoops.
Q. Do you care for special needs children?
A. We do, depending on your specific needs. Please contact us so we can set up a time to meet you and understand the specifics of your situation.
Q. Ahem, what about preschool?
A. Our preschool was built with you and your child’s needs in mind. We have 3-hour sessions 9-12pm and 1-4pm (longer than average so we can get more learning done). You can pick if you want 2, 3, 4, or 5 days a week and even pick which days you want! Finally, if you need to drop-off early or pick-up late, it’s no problem – your child can transition to or from our standard drop-in program. Each session has room for 12 children and we offer two AM sessions.
Q. And camps?
A. Yup, we run them too, in the summer. We just published our summer camp schedule. The beauty of our summer camps is that you pick only the days you want to attend.
Q. I love you so much I want to work there. Are you hiring?
A. We love you too! Oh, and, yes! We are looking to hire the best in the industry for full-time and part-time. We offer very competitive pay, benefits and flexibility. Visit our Careers.
Q. What type of employees are you looking for and what is your process?
A. The best! But, to be more specific, we prefer candidates with 4-year degrees in early childhood education or equivalent, who have at least 2 years of top performance in childcare settings. Our process includes multiple interview rounds with members of our team.
